I brought this skin back from Argentina. The 19th century tannery is a few miles from my cousin's house, down a dirt road. They specialize in horse skin, using ancient techniques to tan the skins. The fellow in charge is the great grandson of the founder. He's brought in great colors and finishes that put this tannery at the level of any in Europe.
I used the skin to create my popular Everyday Toe, which is the perfect all-purpose bag. Great for the office, weekend and travel.
This one-of-a-kind piece has an antique brass African mask that I purchased many years ago at a flea market in New York,.
